OMG! A friend just forwarded the new Hirst paintings to me. They are horrible. How dare the artist Francis Bacon be uttered in the same breath (NY Times). Damien Hirst, go back to being a poseur.
I was born in a very small town in Southern Missouri. I moved to Los Angeles in 1986 to attend graduate school at USC and never left LA. I've been immersed in
the art world all my life, and am currently the editor and founder of an art magazine called Artillery. I am married to Charles Rappleye, an author with two wonderful children that I'm lucky to have in my life. I also have a dog named Trudy and a cat named Buddy.
I enjoy cooking, playing bridge, writing, painting and making art — but I haven't had time to do that lately. Ever since I became editor of Artillery, it's impossible to do much else. I hope to continue painting when my job at Artillery is done. Not sure when that will ever happen.
